Chinkin is an ancient artwork in Japan. It involves carving onto lacquer art pieces to form a picture. Using special designed chisels, the artists use different techniques ranging from dot carving, line carving, angular carving to curve carving to form a picture. Once the process is started, there is no retracting back. The artists have to spend endless moments of continuous carving. No mistakes are allowed. As these are all hand crafted, no two pieces are alike.
The carving depressions are then cover with gold, platinum, silver or coloured powder to form a beautiful art piece. Art pieces featuring feathers, furs, hair, scales and etc really bring out the best of Chinkin.
The end result will be really spectacular.
