NAMIKI ORIGAMI GOLDFISH Goldfish or Kingyo has always been treasured as pets and an artistic symbol in Japan since the ancient times. Highly regarded and popular amongst the aristocrats and wealthy merchants during the 15th century, its unique gold-coloured body was interpreted by many as an auspicious symbol, and it was believed to bring prosperity to the household. The goldfish is a common sight during the summer festivals, when people try their luck at the traditional game of goldfish-scooping at the game stalls. Enchanting and whimsical, the brightly-coloured goldfish are portrayed swimming in the water, creating fascinating swirls of currents and air bubbles.
