Celluloid is a flammable, half transparent material which is made by mixing nitric-cellulose(sulfuric acid and nitric acid are added to cellulose), camphor and alcohol. It softens at 90degrees celsius and hardens when cooled. It must be dried for more than 6months to prevent deformation and twisting and has been recognized as a difficult material. The original #3776 series was designed by the late writing expert. Haruo Umeda and the design team at Platinum Pen Company and was made available to the public in 1978. The 3776 expresses the height in meters of Mt. Fuji, the highest and most beautiful peak in Japan. The Celluloid Collection from the popular 3776 model comes in four vibrant shades of rich cured celluloid: Koi, Stone, Tortoise, and vibrant greens set Jade apart from other writing instruments.
